Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are essential to the many programs and services that the memorial offers the public. There are many different opportunities to become involved. Some volunteer jobs require training, but others are less demanding. All of them are rewarding. Volunteer hours are flexible.
Docents
Docents lead tours of the memorial’s exhibit for adults and students. Volunteers who wish to become docents will attend training classes which include practice sessions. A short text will be provided. Prior knowledge of Holocaust history is not required. Docents work on an as needed basis.
Discussion Facilitators
Facilitators work with school classes to stimulate discussion of issues relating to the history of the Holocaust. Ongoing training will be provided. Facilitators work on an as needed basis during the entire school year, but they are busiest in the spring semester when the teaching schedule in the memorial is heaviest.
Clerical Help
Volunteers are needed from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 Monday through Friday to answer the phone and greet visitors. Occasionally, volunteers are also needed to do clerical work.
