San Antonio Jewish Coalition for Literacy

The TUTOR program of the San Antonio Jewish
Coalition for Literacy

coordinates volunteers who help children
in their own schools on a weekly basis. The program is dedicated to
eradicating illiteracy in San Antonio.  The program is a non-profit
educational and advocacy organization that provides mentors and
tutors through the school systems in San Antonio.

Volunteers are from a diversity of cultures and religions.
They assist students by extending reading or mathematics learning
opportunities to those in need of support in these areas.  Volunteers
choose the day and time they want to commit to working with the
same student once a week approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour.
