SUSAN BUTLER
In my extensive career spanning Art and Fashion, I've embraced a philosophy of lifelong learning instilled by my dear friend and mentor, Esther Vexler. This ethos guided me as I transitioned from selling costume jewelry as a side venture to establishing a thriving factory employing 24 individuals, with products featured on QVC and sold nationwide.
The landscape of US manufacturing shifted with the implementation of NAFTA in the 90s, prompting me to pivot or risk closure. Opting for innovation, I pursued metal design and discovered the captivating art of fusing glass. With determination, I mastered glass blowing, launching a line of vibrant, textured glass jewelry showcased in various media and venues.
Amidst the pandemic, I seized the opportunity to explore mosaics and sculpting, finding new avenues for creativity and joy. As a second-generation San Antonio native deeply rooted in my Jewish community, family remains my greatest source of pride and happiness, with my grandchildren bringing boundless joy.
