Please join the JCRC and the Hispanic-Jewish Connection for a special program on Jewish Roots in Monterrey, Nuevo León, and New Mexico presented by Herb Canales.

For 33 years Herb Canales was employed by the City of Corpus Christi at the public library, serving as Director for 26 years. He also served on the Texas Book Festival Advisory Committee created by then First Lady of Texas Laura Bush. Herb has a personal collection of over 200 books and articles on the subject of the Jews of New Spain, now Mexico, with particular attention to the northeastern area, Monterrey and Nuevo Leon, where its founders and earliest settlers included Crypto-Jews who had fled the Inquisition.
