Prepare your heart and mind for the High Holy Days with Cantor Seth Ettinger in this three-part Lunch & Learn series exploring the sacred sounds and meaning of the shofar service. Through these sessions, we will take a deeper look at the three central sections of the shofar liturgy: Malchuyot (Sovereignty), Zichronot (Remembrances), and Shofarot (Redemption). Together, we will explore the philosophy, history, and spiritual significance behind each section, while gaining a greater appreciation for the distinct shofar calls and liturgical melodies that bring these themes to life.
Each session will follow Shabbat services and include lunch ($15) and an opportunity for learning, discussion, and preparation for the Days of Awe.
Saturday, August 15
Saturday, August 22
Saturday, August 29
Please note that the August 22 session will coincide with our Shabbat Lunch Chavurah, so members and guests ages 65 and older may attend that lunch session free of charge.
Join Cantor Ettinger for a meaningful journey through one of the most powerful and recognizable sounds of the Jewish year... the call of the shofar.
