Job Description:

The Development Manager’s primary responsibilities are maximizing the development (both fundraising and engagement) of the Jewish community with the Jewish Federation of San Antonio (JFSA) while ensuring the achievement of fundraising goals. The Development Manager will assist and support JFSA in the development of sound short and longterm fundraising plans and will help ensure that year-end financial goals are attained.

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about strengthening the Jewish community, creating connections with community members, have strong organizational skills, with an exceptional eye to detail, and be a strong team player.

Job Responsibilities:

Fundraising:

  • Active participant in the strategy and implementation of all campaigns.
  • Leads, manages, and implements the portfolio of community donors (i.e. gifts less than $1,500).
  • Strategizes with Development Team to increase community participation and giving, acting as the primary liaison between community-level donors and Jewish Federation of San Antonio.
  • Increases community participation and gifts through continuously building relationships with current and prospective community-level donors.
  • Participates in grant writing process.
  • Works closely with the Director of Development and Marketing and Communications Manager to ensure all communication, branding, and marketing efforts are aligned with the agency.

Engagement:

  • Supervises a part time Engagement Associate who serves as a liaison connecting individuals and families with opportunities available at JFSA and other Jewish organizations.
  • Supervises a part time Events Coordinator, whose primary responsibilities are internal and external fundraising and engagement events.
  • Supports Events Coordinator with the solicitation of event sponsors, financial and inkind.
  • Creates and executes volunteer engagement opportunities.
  • In partnership with the Director of Development, develops and implements a stewardship program that ensures positive donor engagement and philanthropy. 

Administrative:

  • Oversees grant management software, Fluxx Grantseeker.
  • Collaborates with Development Associate to ensure accurate records in donor database.
  • Responds to community announcements by way of cards and correspondence, and leads the efforts for donor birthday cards.

Qualifications:

  • Two or more years of development experience preferred.
  • Management experience preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
  • Strong attention to detail; able to plan, organize, prioritize and execute responsibilities.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Suite; Experience and knowledge of donor database, Blackbaud preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours (some evenings and Sundays will be required)
  • Knowledge of the Jewish Federation and the local Jewish community preferred.
