What's up with Israel?

A three-part deep dive into the conflict and the recent rise of antisemitism

The Young Adult Division (YAD) and the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) have teamed up to offer Jewish young adults in San Antonio an opportunity to learn about Israel, antisemitism, anti-Zionism, and how to have discussions with others. Each session will have a specific focus and will be presented by a guest speaker.

Part I: Wednesday, June 16 | 7 - 8:30 pm
Israel: How did our past lead to our present? Its history and modern struggles
with guest speaker, Nammie Ichilov, CEO of the Jewish Federation of San Antonio
Part 2: Wednesday, June 23 | 7 - 8:30 pm
Antisemitism, anti-Zionism, the BDS movement, and delegitimizing Israel
with guest speaker, Rabbi Yoel Lax
Part 3: Wednesday, June 30 | 7 - 8:30 pm
How to have effective, meaningful, and productive conversations about Israel
with guest speaker Rob Eichelbaum, attorney and Adjunct Professor at St. Mary's School of Law. Rob has 25 years of experience in conflict resolution and is the 2021 recipient of the Peacemaker Award.

About the Israel Leadership Fellowship


The Jewish Community Relations Council of the Jewish Federation of San Antonio invites you to apply to our program for pre-college teens: Israel Leadership Fellowship. This intensive, 5 session curriculum will help you form honest answers to the tough questions you will hear about Israel in college.

This program is designed for a small cohort of San Antonio Jewish students entering college or their senior year in high school (if space available, exceptions might be made for students entering junior year of high school). The Israel Leadership Fellowship is at no cost to you and is generously sponsored by the Norman and Anita Davis JCRC Endowment Fund.

The Israel Leadership Fellowship will be led by Natalie Steiner, Jewish Student Life Coordinator of Hillel San Antonio.



5 sessions (in person, COVID dependent)
All session dates will take place at the Jewish Campus from 6pm to 7:30pm and dinner will be provided.

Wednesday July 14: Current Political Controversies- How did we get here?
Friday July 16: Faces of Israel/Israel through the Lens of Food
Monday  July 19: Anti-Zionism, is it antisemitism?
Wednesday July 21: Start up Nation

Sunday July 25: College Panel & Family Celebration

About JIY: Jew it Yourself


PJ Library San Antonio is teaming up with the Jewish Learning Lab to bring you a new learning experience, JIY: Jew It Yourself. This program is designed primarily for interfaith families to have vibrant discussions about Jewish parenting and learning in an open, inclusive, and accessible manner from the comfort of your own living room.
