About

As part of our mission and goal to sustain and grow our strong Jewish community here in San Antonio, Federation is proud to offer learning opportunities for various interests, ages, life cycle categories, and more!

About the Israel Leadership Fellowship:

The Jewish Community Relations Council of the Jewish Federation of San Antonio invites Jewish High School juniors and seniors to become a 2021 Israel Leadership Fellow. Over five sessions, students will discuss with one another honest answers to tough questions about Israel, including, "What is BDS? What if I disagree with Israel's policies? What are the things about Israel I am proud of? Is anti-Zionism the same as antisemitism?".

Schedule:

5 sessions (in person, COVID dependent)

Oct 3, 17 | Nov 7, 21 | Dec 5

Sundays from 12:30 - 2 pm

Goals:

  • Deepen your understanding of Israel and its complexities.

  • Develop transferable skills in tough conversations about Israel.

  • Prepare for antisemitism you may face in high school, college, on social media, or in person.

Included:

  • T-shirt, cookbook, kosher lunch, and additional learning materials.

  • A $250 stipend is available to participants who attend an approved teen summer program in Israel.

  • Opportunity to join next semester's 5 session program on the Holocaust.

The Jewish Federation of San Antonio is proud to announce J-LEV, a new leadership development program. "J-LEV" stands for Jewish Leadership, Jewish Engagement, and Jewish Values. Additionally, the word "lev" means "heart" in Hebrew. Our young adults are the beating heart of the community. Through this program, Federation is committed to fostering the next generation of Jewish leaders who will help support the rich diversity in Jewish life and ensure our community continues to thrive.

Over the course of 8 months ( 1 session per month), Jewish young adults ages 32 - 42, will advance their leadership skills, deepen their knowledge of the San Antonio area and the Jewish agencies within, build relationships with their peers and put that knowledge into action.

The application process is a chance to tell your story – who you are and why you’d like to be a part of this program. We take pride in the fact that J-LEV reflects the diversity of our community, and includes people from varying professional backgrounds, political orientations, aspirations for Jewish leadership, and affiliations in the community.

Applications close at midnight on September 30.
